This is one of several new designs that I’ve added to products in The TeacherMarket. More on that in just a bit.
If you are one of the regular visitors to The Teacher Beacon, you will know that I’ve been posting every Tuesday since September 16 of last year. Admittedly, there have been a couple of weeks that I failed to post something.
But, for the most part, I’ve been very consistent.
Since this previous academic year concluded recently, I’ve found myself in a relatively ingrained and familiar pattern. Like you, I feel compelled to take some time off. Let’s face it. We deserve it.
At this point in time, I’m doing my best to keep track of openings for teachers here in Northeast Florida. I would love to work in St. Johns County, as they continually post the best scores in this region of the country.
I was able to successfully renew my Florida teacher’s certificate, and as a result, I’m fully licensed all the way through the year 2017. In addition, I have enough professional development points left over that I may also choose to renew an additional five years after that.
As you may know, it’s always been my intention to get back into the classroom. I have to say that I truly miss having the opportunity to make a difference with young people. Unfortunately, there are lots of teachers here in the state of Florida (and I strongly imagine just about everywhere else) who are out of work.
If for some reason I cannot return to the classroom as a teacher, I would be willing to work as a paraprofessional or even as a volunteer. I had several posts recently about my volunteering efforts that you may or may not find interesting and somewhat surprising.
33 years of classroom experience, a Masters degree, and 300 hours of professional development for working with English language learners, I’m quite sure, will work very much to my advantage. As we move into the summer hiring period, I will be keeping my eyes open and my fingers crossed.
I know for a fact that Mandarin Middle School is in need of a media specialist and a person who can oversee one of their computer labs. I will be returning there to volunteer my services once again.
In the meantime, I’m staying very busy with Daily Teaching Tools, my website and The TeacherMarket, my Café Press online store. I’m adding 24 new designs on a variety of products that you may find intriguing. And, as I mentioned previously, one of those new designs appears above.
With all of this in mind, I’ve decided to take a temporary break from posting here on The Teacher Beacon. I am NOT saying goodbye. I have every intention of resuming my posts as soon as the new school year begins.
Here in Northeast Florida, that magical time for teachers is August 13. The students themselves will attend their first day of school one week later on the 20th.
I don’t think that I’ve mentioned that I sincerely hope that you have a relaxing, enjoyable, and safe summer to unwind and prepare for the fall.
If you get a chance, it would be great if you could cast a survey vote on the Daily Teaching Tools homepage and tell us how you plan to spend the remaining portion of your vacation.
Until Tuesday, August 14, when we meet up again, my best wishes to you in all your endeavors.
